Returns, Cancellations & Refunds Policy

Last updated September 2026. At Murphy Print & Graphic Design, many of the products we manufacture are created specifically for individual customers. This includes products printed with customer artwork, personalised information or bespoke specifications.

This policy explains when an order may be cancelled or returned and what happens if there is a problem with your order.

Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights under Irish or EU consumer law.

1. Personalised and made-to-order products

The majority of our printed products are made specifically to each customer's requirements. Examples include:

  • business cards;
  • flyers and leaflets;
  • brochures and booklets;
  • personalised stationery;
  • invitations;
  • posters;
  • banners;
  • signage;
  • branded merchandise;
  • printed clothing;
  • customised packaging;
  • products printed using customer artwork; and
  • products manufactured to a customer's individual dimensions or specifications.

Under Irish consumer law, the normal 14-day cancellation right for online or distance purchases generally does not apply to goods that are made according to a customer's individual choice or specification or that are clearly personalised.

For this reason, personalised or bespoke products cannot normally be returned or refunded simply because you have changed your mind.

This does not affect your statutory rights where the product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly produced, misdescribed or does not otherwise conform to the contract.

2. Standard, non-personalised products

If you are a Consumer and purchase a standard, non-personalised product online, by telephone or through another distance-selling method, you will generally have the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason.

You must tell us that you wish to cancel before the cancellation period expires.

After notifying us, you must return the goods without undue delay and no later than 14 days after notifying us of your cancellation.

Unless we have agreed otherwise, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning goods following a change-of-mind cancellation.

Goods should be returned in suitable condition. You are responsible for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what would reasonably be necessary to inspect the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.

Where a valid cancellation applies, we will refund the purchase price together with the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option.

Additional delivery charges resulting from your choice of an upgraded, express or premium delivery service are not refundable beyond the value of our standard delivery charge.

We may withhold the refund until the goods have been returned to us or you provide evidence that they have been sent back, whichever occurs first.

3. Graphic design and other services

Consumers who purchase a service online or at a distance generally have a 14-day cancellation period from the date the contract is concluded.

If you expressly ask us to begin design, artwork preparation or another service during this cancellation period, work may begin before the 14 days have expired.

If you subsequently cancel during the cancellation period after requesting that work begin, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the services supplied up to the date of cancellation.

Where a service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your prior express request and acknowledgement that your cancellation right will be lost once the service is fully performed, the statutory cancellation right will no longer apply.

Separate rules may apply to Business Customers.

4. Cancelling or changing a bespoke order before production

If you need to change or cancel a customised order, contact us as quickly as possible.

If design or production has not yet started, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.

Once artwork preparation, design, material ordering, printing, finishing or production has started, cancellation may not be possible.

Where we agree to cancel an order after work has begun, reasonable charges may apply for design time, artwork preparation, materials, administration or production already completed.

Your statutory rights as a Consumer are not affected.

5. Proof approval and customer errors

Where we provide a proof, you are responsible for checking it carefully before approval. This includes checking:

  • spelling;
  • names;
  • telephone numbers;
  • addresses;
  • dates and times;
  • prices;
  • page order;
  • images;
  • logos;
  • quantities;
  • dimensions; and
  • all other content.

Once you approve the proof, we will manufacture the order based on that approved artwork.

Where a product has been correctly produced from artwork supplied or approved by the customer, a spelling mistake, incorrect date, incorrect telephone number or other error contained in that artwork will not normally be considered a manufacturing defect.

However, if the finished product differs materially from the approved artwork or agreed specification because of an error on our part, please contact us and we will investigate the matter.

6. Faulty, damaged or incorrect products

If you believe your order is:

  • damaged;
  • faulty;
  • incorrectly printed;
  • incorrectly finished;
  • materially different from the approved proof; or
  • otherwise not in conformity with the agreed specification,

please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide your order or invoice number and, where possible, photographs showing the issue.

We may ask you to retain or return some or all of the affected goods so that we can inspect them.

Where goods do not conform to the contract, Consumers have the statutory remedies provided under Irish consumer law. Depending on the circumstances, these can include repair, replacement, a price reduction or termination of the contract and refund.

Irish consumer law also provides a short-term right to terminate a sales contract in certain circumstances where goods fail to conform to the contract.

Nothing in this policy restricts those statutory rights.

7. Goods damaged during delivery

Please inspect your delivery as soon as reasonably possible.

If packaging or products appear to have been damaged in transit, please take photographs of:

  • the external packaging;
  • the delivery label;
  • any internal packaging; and
  • the damaged goods.

Contact us with your order details so that we can investigate the issue with the carrier and arrange the appropriate remedy.

Where a Consumer is entitled to a remedy for faulty or non-conforming goods, any necessary return will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law.

8. Colour and reasonable print variation

Colours viewed on a computer monitor, tablet or mobile phone may differ from printed colours.

Paper, card, vinyl, fabric and other substrates can also affect colour reproduction.

Minor variations can occur between separate print runs and between different production methods.

These reasonable production differences do not automatically mean that a product is defective.

Where exact colour matching is essential, this should be agreed with us before production.

This provision does not affect your rights where the supplied product is materially different from the agreed specification.

9. Refunds

Where a refund is due under a Consumer's statutory cancellation rights, it will be processed without undue delay and within the period required by applicable law.

Unless otherwise agreed, refunds will be made using the same payment method used for the original transaction and no refund fee will be charged.

For returned goods, we may be entitled to wait until the goods have been received or evidence of return has been supplied before issuing the refund.

Refunds relating to faulty or non-conforming goods will be processed in accordance with the applicable statutory remedy.

10. Business customers

The statutory cooling-off rights available to Consumers do not generally apply to purchases made wholly or mainly for business purposes.

Returns, cancellations and refunds for Business Customers are therefore subject to the agreed quotation, order confirmation and our Terms & Conditions.

Customised or personalised products manufactured correctly to an approved specification cannot normally be returned by a Business Customer unless otherwise agreed.

This does not affect any contractual rights the Business Customer may have where the goods do not conform to the agreed specification.
